Juha-Pekka Vartiainen: Photographs

A wanna-be thunderstorm

On the 2nd of August 2013 I sat all alone on the porch of my cottage in Salla. I heard deep sounding drums from far away. Took a look, checked the horizon. Clouds that are too tall, what? A thunderstorm is rising behind the lake, me wearing just a towel? Where's the camera? Why am I just now feeling so lazy? Pants on, long shirt on, fuck you mosquitos, let's take some photos! This is what I got!

More company

The series  was photographed in 2007 in Salla, Lapland - and at last I got it here! The theme is very similar to the series No need to be alone. Nothing is alone.

No need to be alone
The series presented here was photographed
on the 16th of September 2006 in Salla, Lapland.
The idea was to capture reflections and transparency.
The subjects began to multiply and arrange in layers.
Maybe this could be called natural photography, but
to me the images represent portraits or beginnings of stories.
Nothing is alone.
